We’ve said it before, and we will say it again: PR is more than press releases! A lesser-known facet of a public relations strategy involves connecting industry leaders with the right media outlets to share their insights and expertise. For the last several weeks, the team worked diligently to place our clients’ thought-leading pieces in publications that connect directly with their target audiences. This month, rather than sharing traditional media placements that are a result of press releases, pitching efforts or our team’s media relations expertise like we normally do, we’d like to highlight the outstanding insights of three of our clients.
Acting as a liaison between Ericka von Salews, the executive director of Vassar-Warner Home, Dutchess County’s only nonprofit senior living facility, and WestFair Business Journals, the Impact team assisted in the ideation and placement of an article penned by von Salews around social isolation. The result? A contributed piece in one of the Hudson Valley’s premier business publications, which amassed nearly 50,000 media impressions. You can read Ericka von Salews’ full article, “The Importance of Connection: Combating Social Isolation”, here.
Pivoting from the healthcare and wellness industry to the financial and banking industry, Impact worked strategically with Greg Garone, a wealth advisor at Tompkins Financial Advisors, to identify the appropriate target for an article on small business. Because Garone is based in Western New York and wanted to reach small business owners specifically, the team selected the Rochester Business Journal as the ideal publication for Garone’s insights. After connecting with Rochester Business Journal, the team successfully placed Garone’s piece, “3 Smart Steps to Secure Your Small Business’s Future”, in the publication. Additionally, the team worked with Dr. Alethea Taylor, executive director of Hour Children, to secure a bylined article for the Long Island City-based nonprofit. Because Hour Children’s mission is to support families during a mother’s incarceration and upon her release, highlighting the intricacies of parenting while incarcerated was collaboratively selected to be the topic for a contributed piece. After researching the most appropriate outlet, the team then worked to share Dr. Taylor’s wisdom and did just that by successfully placing the article in New York Nonprofit Media. You can read Dr. Alethea Taylor’s full commentary on parenting from behind bars here.
This work, often referred to as thought leadership, is one of the many tactics our team of professionals utilizes as part of a strategic PR and communications plan.
