Putting the PR in Puerto Rico

March 16, 2016

I’m about to take a vacation from my business – to work on my business.

In a few short weeks, I’ll pack my bags for Puerto Rico. Sandals – check! Sunscreen – check! Shades – check!

I’ll also throw in a few notepads and business cards while I’m at it because I’m not taking a leisure trip. Instead, I’m attending my first-ever Public Relations Society of America Counselors Academy (#CAPRSA) Conference.

I can’t remember the last time I was so excited to go to work! Another agency owner who is a friend of mine suggested signing up for the #CAPRSA Conference and, after hearing him extol the virtues of fellowship with kindred entrepreneurs who walk the same walk and talk the same talk, I immediately began searching for flights on Expedia.

I’ve already begun connecting with those who are attending – thank you, social media – and cannot wait to talk best practices, technological advances, leadership styles and client relationships with some of the county’s leading public relations experts. On the agenda are panel discussions, roundtables and networking galore and, best of all, the chance to do it all with a cold, tropical drink in hand.

Of course it will be tough to take a few days away from the office, but continuing education is an important aspect of what we believe in at Impact – it’s part of our business model – and that vision starts at the top.

To my new PR pals, nos vemos prontos.
